Proposal

    This document is a proposal to the BeOS programming community at large, to collectively create the first truly intelligent launcher technology. The goal is to create a core technology (the Einsteinium engine) able to watch system events and keep a near-real-time database of usage patterns for applications, documents, folders and URLs, with a corresponding API allowing custom interfaces to be written to display and manipulate the database dynamically.
    What does this mean for the user? Smart toolbars, that remember the applications, documents and folders you open on a regular basis. A smart favorites list, that updates itself according to what websites you access most often. Smart document menus in your favorite applications. Toolbars that not only add common applications automatically, but also automatically remove them when they are no longer being used very often. In short, a complete revolution in the way you use your computer, cutting down on a huge amount of repetitive navigation tasks.
    It is our hope that many BeOS programmers and users will see the potential of this vision and flock to the project in droves.
