The WorkForce Development Center is a non-profit agency that was created in October of 1997, in order to assist unemployed and underemployed adults in Sitka to find new ways of making a living. Its major project is the Sitka Business Resource Center which help accelerate the growth and development of small and emerging private businesses in Sitka, Alaska. We do this by providing technical assistance and support services through a business resource center "without walls".
The Alaska Marine Safety Education Association (AMSEA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce injury and death in the marine and fresh water environment through public education provided by a statewide network of qualified marine safety instructors.
Hunter Air is an FAA regulated flightseeing/aerial excursion business based in Sitka, Alaska. We provide floatplane tours to enjoy scenic mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, islands, beaches, forests, and Alaskan wildlife. Trips are customized per client's requests and may include a lake landing.
Running of the Boots is an annual event in Sitka, Alaska to celebrate the changing of the seasons and the coming home of the salmon to spawn. Now on its tenth year, the event is Southeast Alaska's answer to Spain's Running of the Bulls though the greatest hazard it poses is being run over by an oncoming herd of Sitkans wearing rubber boots and the zaniest costumes.
